FAQs

At Kreeb Family Dentistry, our patients are at the center of everything we do. A basic understanding of oral health and common dental procedures help set you up for success. Here, our doctors answer some of the most frequently asked questions at our Huntersville, NC practice.
Dental x-rays are an essential aspect of oral healthcare. They allow us to see underlying oral structures and landmarks. They also help us determine the severity of issues like decay and gum disease. In general, patients in good oral health may only require x-rays annually. However, if you have a particular issue that we’re monitoring, more frequent x-rays will be necessary. Patient safety is our top priority. That’s why we use only the most advanced dental radiographs in our practice.
The answer to this question is different for every individual. The majority of our patients are able to maintain optimal oral health with dental cleanings twice a year. Individuals who are prone to issues like tooth decay or gum disease often benefit from more frequent visits – every three to four months. During a consultation at our practice, we will discuss your unique dental needs and determine a cleaning schedule that’s right for you.
Yes! At Kreeb Family Dentistry, we understand that dental anxiety is real. In fact, nearly half of the population avoids the dentist due to these fears and phobias. Sedation dentistry induces a state of relaxation and helps patients remain comfortable throughout the course of their treatment. At our practice, we offer three primary types of sedation, nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and IV sedation.
Gum disease has three primary stages: gingivitis, periodontitis, and advanced periodontitis. The type of treatment necessary depends on the state of the disease. When gum disease is detected early, it’s much easier to treat. Gingivitis can be reversed with a routine dental cleaning. If the disease has progressed, then other treatments will be necessary, such as deep cleanings, laser treatment, or periodontal surgery. Routine exams and cleanings are a good way to keep gum disease at bay.
We offer Invisalign® at our Huntersville, NC practice. Many of our patients want to know how Invisalign compares to traditional metal braces. Due to its advanced technology, the Invisalign system can address many of the same issues as conventional orthodontics. And because the trays are clear, those who prefer discreet treatment prefer Invisalign over other options. Best of all, this treatment usually only takes about 12 to 18 months to complete.
The first defense against tooth decay is diligent brushing and flossing. Patients should brush twice a day and floss once daily. Additionally, regular dental cleanings and exams are a necessary aspect of oral healthcare. When you attend your cleanings at our practice, we’ll recommend other preventative treatments to reduce the risk of cavities, such as topical fluoride treatments or dental sealants.
